Privacy and analytics
This site counts page views and a few link clicks to understand which projects visitors find useful.
The analytics database stores daily totals by page, broad referral source (such as LinkedIn or GitHub), and action. Actions include opening a demo, clicking the resume link, and clicking email. A resume-link click is not proof that a download completed, and a contact click is not an inquiry.
The analytics code does not store names, email addresses, IP addresses, browser fingerprints, visitor identifiers, URL query strings, or text entered into demos. No analytics cookies are used. Cloudflare hosts the site and processes network requests to deliver it; these aggregate counters are separate from the hosting provider’s operational processing.
Your browser’s Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track request disables this analytics code. You can also disable it here. The preference is saved only in this browser’s local storage and is not a visitor identifier.
The Gamebot question box. A question typed into “Ask in words” on the Gamebot demo is sent to a hosted language model (DeepSeek or Zhipu’s GLM, whichever you pick) to be turned into a query, and the question, the query it wrote, whether the query ran, and your yes/no on the result are kept in a log on this site to improve the question set. No name, address or identifier is stored with a question. To limit spend, a salted hash of the connecting address counts questions per hour; it is stored only in that hour’s counter, never beside a question. The query itself runs in your browser; the model never runs anything.
The Ask demos’ hosted models. Ask Mindscape and Ask the Encyclopedia offer a choice of model. With the local one, the question and the passages stay on the machine that answers. With a hosted one (Zhipu’s GLM or DeepSeek), the question and the retrieved passages are sent to that provider to write and review the answer; the choice is shown on the page and kept in your browser. Either way the run log on the machine keeps the question and timings, no address.
The Star Trek guessing game. Each guess on “Which series is this?” is stored as one row: the passage id, whether the names were masked, your guess, the answer, the model’s guess, the seconds taken, and a random session id the page makes up when it loads. No name, address or identifier. The rows are the human baseline the project page reports once there are enough of them.
These analytics cover pages on preferencespace.com and clicks from them into the demos. Separately hosted demos may process submitted questions to provide their results; those questions are not sent to this analytics database.
