Gamebot / Survivor TV statistics

Explore the Survivor data warehouse

Gamebot brings together voting records, challenge results, and contestant statistics from Survivor, the CBS reality TV show, and its international editions. It supplies the data for the Survivor analyses on this site. It takes the survivoR dataset through a medallion pipeline, Airflow and dbt over PostgreSQL, from raw tables to feature tables to two matrices a model can train on. This page has every table of the packaged slice. SQL executes locally in your browser. A question typed in words goes to a hosted model that writes the query for the browser to run.

Here for the trivia rather than the tables? (opens in a new tab) The same records, with the questions a fan asks and no SQL in the way.

Lineage

Every table, by layer, with the dependencies dbt declares. Click a table for its columns and, for silver and gold, the SQL that builds it. Bronze is survivoR as ingested, with run and version metadata; silver is one feature table per strategic category; gold is the two matrices, one row per castaway and season. The three dashed silver boxes are views this page defines in your browser, immunity_wins, people and jury_tally, so the ready queries and the model's SQL share one definition of each.

Ask in words

A hosted model reads the warehouse's schema, sample values and the dbt definitions, and writes one DuckDB query for your question. The query lands in the editor below, where you can read it, change it and run it; the model never runs anything. It says what it assumed when the question left a choice open. Read the evaluation design for forty reference questions; results are not yet published.

SQL

DuckDB runs in the page and reads each table's Parquet file on demand, so a query fetches only what it names. Tables are bronze.castaways, silver.vote_dynamics, gold.ml_features_hybrid and the rest of the lineage map; clicking a table name in the sidebar writes a starter query.

One castaway, one row of the gold matrix

The gold tables have a row per castaway and season, with the features the silver layer computed: challenges, advantages, votes cast and received, tribe position, jury support, and the edit. Pick a season and a castaway to see that row, grouped by the table each feature came from, with the castaway's percentile among that season's cast.
